Cambridge Camping is seeking camp counselors and camp leadership to help make this summer an unforgettable experience for our campers from under-resourced circumstances. Positions are available at both Adventure Day Camp and Daybreak Day Camp (our smaller program for children with social-emotional needs and/or histories of trauma), and both camps will take place at Nashoba Brooks School in Concord, with frequent field trips.

Counselors build valuable skills to support their future careers: responsibility, teamwork, selflessness, leadership, management, communication, listening, problem-solving, and decision-making. Our staff develop cross-cultural competence necessary for success in a professional workforce, engage with families and children who are culturally and socioeconomically diverse, and gain experience supporting social and emotional development in young people. Our staff build connections and relationships with fellow camp staff that will last a lifetime
Seasonal camp staff work on an hourly basis for 32 to 40 hours per week or more from June 25 to August 16 (including orientation and training). Cambridge Camping will pay a guaranteed end-of-summer bonus to all camp staff who complete their 7-week commitment. There are also opportunities for pre- and post-season hours. Cambridge Camping provides bus transportation for campers and staff who need transportation to travel to and from Concord, MA. Some staff are required to ride the bus as bus monitors to and from camp. Salaries vary depending on experience, position, education. We will also consider your application for camp leadership roles if qualified.

Responsibilities include:
● Create and review daily schedule
● Assist with snack and lunch for camper groups
● Develop and facilitate camp activities
● Supervise camper groups and respond to challenges as needed
● Provide campers and CITs with ongoing support and feedback
● Support fellow counselors through collaboration and proactive communication
● Assist with general management of camp facility
● Assist programming specialists with activities
● Ride camp buses between Concord and Cambridge, MA, as needed
● Communicate with division directors/administrators around any camper issues
● Supervision by a member of admin team 1x/week
Required Skills and Experience:
● Bachelor’s Degree or in the pursuit of a Bachelors’ is preferred
● Experience working with elementary-age children
● Experience supervising children preferred
● Demonstrated understanding of culturally competent social-emotional learning concepts
● Ability to participate in activities of camp (including swimming)
All summer camp staff must:
● Clear CORI and SORI background checks
● Provide documentation of a physical exam by a doctor within prior 12 months
● Provide documentation of up-to-date immunizations
